In 2010, The Richmond Distirct office of the U.S. Small Business Aministration approved 737 loans worth 174 million for the small buisiness owners in the district. This huge Richmond district center covers all of the 631,175 small businesses in the state with the acception of three counties and three cities in Northern Virgina. Some of these small businesses were also awarded 700 contracts worth over 500 million to do work with other government agencies and other businesess throughout the state in 2009.
For anyone thinking of starting a business in Virginia or is already operating a small business in the state and wants to expand, the Richmond District offfice of the SBA is the place to begin.
Not only does the agency help with loans, by guaranteeing a certain portion of the loan, as long as the loan is provided by one of the many lending institutions in the state that work under SBA loan guidelines, but it helps the small business owner create a business plan that may insure the success of the business.
Along with the plan, the actual business roadmap, the SBA will arrange experience mentors to help and to guide the novice business owner to success.
